Chairman of the Board
CORE Construction

Throughout his career in the construction industry, Mr. Baum attended Bradley University and served on Bradley University’s Board of Trustees and on the Advisory Board for Bradley’s Civil Engineering and Construction Department. Along with his three brothers, Mr. Baum founded Diversified Building, Inc. in Morton, IL over 43 years ago. The company began as a General Contracting firm primarily erecting moderately sized pre-engineered steel buildings in central Illinois. This was their first venture beyond the family’s masonry contracting firm established by their father, Otto Baum in 1937, and still operates today as one of the largest masonry firms in downstate Illinois, adding a commercial concrete, excavating, and road & bridge divisions.

Over the years, the firm grew in size and reputation, resulting in a portfolio that includes commercial, industrial, healthcare, and institutional-related projects. Today, Diversified Buildings operates as CORE Construction, a multi-disciplined general contracting firm providing construction management and design-build services. CORE Construction has 14 offices in 8 states, employing over 1500 people with an annual volume of $800 million.
