David E. Connor

David E Connor began his career with Commercial National Bank in 1952 as a trainee of his father-in-law who was chairman of the bank at the time. Through his career, Connor went on to become president of Commercial National Bank. In 1983 it was Connor and the executives of three other downstate Illinois banks who joined to form the Peoria-based holding company Midwest Financial. Connor became Chief and at the time he departed the company, it had grown to be the sixth-largest bank holding company in Illinois and the largest in the state outside of Chicago, with combined assets of $2.2 billion.
